Nilushka Perera is a Senior Fellow specialising in Race Equity at Foundations.
Nilushka is a public health professional passionate about reducing health and social inequity for children and families in low resource settings. Nilushka is committed to strengthening the connection between research and practice and has over 12 years of experience in working in digital innovation, participatory research design, data storytelling and programme evaluation. She has worked across non-profit, research, charity, corporate and educational settings across the UK and Sri Lanka.
Nilushka is a Director of People Street, a community research organisation, dedicated to ensuring minoritised communities are empowered to have their voices heard to drive sustainable equitable change. She was previously the COO of Best Beginnings, a national charity in the UK dedicated to supporting children and families in the UK, where she led a multidisciplinary team to design and implement digital interventions, including the award-winning Baby Buddy app – which has over 500,000 downloads. Nilushka has held multiple roles across the MHPSS sector in Sri Lanka and led projects to increase equitable access to mental health support during times of crisis including Easter Sunday Attacks and supported resource development to support first responders and frontline health care professionals.
