Enhancing Services for Kinship Families: a Kinship Care Practice Guide Session for Local Leaders

November 19, 2024
| 9:30 am

Following the launch of the Kinship Care Practice Guide, developed by Foundations and commissioned by the Department for Education, we are holding an online session for local leaders and Kinship Leads on Tuesday 19 November, 9.30-12:00.

The Kinship Care Practice Guide is the first in a series of national, evidence-based guidance for leaders in children’s social care. Practice Guides bring together the strongest evidence from the UK and abroad about how best to achieve the objectives in the Children’s Social Care National Framework and are designed to help local leaders plan and deliver effective support for children and families.

The session will provide the opportunity to hear from:

  • National leaders on the context around the Kinship Care Practice Guide
  • The Foundations team who developed the Practice Guide
  • Members of the Guidance Writing Advisory Group, including local authority DCSs
  • Partner local authorities who are implementing Practice Guide recommendations
  • People with lived experience of Kinship Care.

This session offers a chance to hear from local authorities who are already engaging with the Practice Guide. It aims to share insights on design and delivery of services for kinship families and to provide attendees with ideas for embedding the recommendations.
