In 2019 What Works for Children’s Social Care (WWCSC) – one of the sister organisations which
merged to form Foundations – What Works Centre for Children & Families – started the process to
establish an Evidence Quarter: a space for leading evidence organisations to increase their impact
through collaborating, tackling common challenges, and sharing office space and back-office
functions.
WWCSC signed the agreement to lease office space lease at Albany House from April 2020 with
plans to move into the EQ in early spring. Although the pandemic inevitably delayed initial progress,
the EQ was officially launched in 2021 with What Works Wellbeing, Centre for Homelessness Impact,
Centre for Evidence Implementation, Legal Education Foundation, TASO and Neighbourly Lab joining
in the first wave. The Early Intervention Foundation (EIF) – now Foundations – and Reform joined the
EQ in 2021, followed by ImpactEd in 2022, and Centre for Young Lives and Spirit of 2012 in January
2024.
The EQ was home to a small but growing number of organisations with a passion for finding evidence-led solutions to some of the biggest social challenges facing the UK today. It brought organisations together to share physical space, increase collaboration, and tackle joint challenges to increase their impact. The EQ office space in the heart of Westminster also hosted roundtables and
collaboration events, along with regular events including seminars and networking opportunities.
The EQ closed in November 2024. The EQ’s legacy lives on through continued collaboration within
established networks and new workplaces.
