EDIE and the Guidebook
Our Guidebook position statement on Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Equity (EDIE) outlines our commitment to EDIE principles and our anti-racist and inclusive vision specifically for Guidebook evidence. It acknowledges the limitations of dominant or Western evidence frameworks that can perpetuate systemic inequities and aims to extend our approach to evidence synthesis in ways that are actively anti-racist, and inclusive of minoritised communities’ knowledge, needs, and lived experiences.
We are taking meaningful, practical steps to make the Guidebook more inclusive and equitable by ensuring that the equity-related information is not only visible, but is also relevant, accessible, and actionable for local leaders. We will do this for interventions added from May 2026 onwards, by:
- Providing accessible EDIE information on evidence of impact on disparities (where available); and evidence on implementation and family experience
- Identifying and highlighting equity-focused design features of interventions
- Strengthening our assessment process through a series of actions which strengthen and embed equity considerations at every stage.
We will continue to work to address other forms of marginalisation to ensure the Guidebook is inclusive, representative, and equitable for all. At Foundations, anti-racism is an organisational strategic priority, and our position statement focuses on promoting racial equity. We are also committed to expanding the Guidebook to better reflect the experiences and needs of a broader range of minoritised groups.
