Call for evaluation partners

Foundations – What Works Centre for Children & Families is seeking to recruit a diverse set of organisations with research expertise in the children’s social care and early intervention spaces, to join us as evaluation partners (formerly Panel of Evaluators). We are inviting existing and new partners alike to submit applications, detailing relevant research experience, key personnel required, and job rates. Successful applicants will then be eligible to apply for our external research projects in the future.

We will notify applicants of the status of their applications by early September, and we plan to conduct onboarding activities in October 2023.

Funding call: Domestic Abuse Evaluation Accelerator Fund

Foundations – What Works Centre for Children & Families is pleased to launch the Domestic Abuse Evaluation Accelerator Fund, which aims to support the roll-out of domestic abuse programmes and to pair these with rigorous evaluations – programmes amenable to using randomised controlled trials for evaluations will be favoured.  

We invite proposals for programmes or interventions, and are exclusively seeking applications for proposals that align with one of four key intervention areas:  

  1. Perpetrator programmes 
  2. Preventative and early intervention programmes 
  3. Therapeutic interventions
  4. Workforce programmes to build knowledge and skills and improve practice on domestic abuse.

Individual awards will be funded at a maximum of £500,000 over a period of up to 15 months. We anticipate awarding projects in December 2023. Set up of the programme will take place from January to April 2024, and delivery from April 2024 to April 2025.

Call for research: Systematic review of effective interventions and practices for parents experiencing complex and multiple needs

Foundations – What Works Centre for Children and Families is seeking
proposals from research organisations to deliver a systematic review aimed at
identifying interventions and effective practice elements for working with
parents experiencing multiple and complex problems.

The review must be conducted between September 2023 and March 2024 to inform the development of Practice Guides that will cover effective parenting practice with highly vulnerable families, including those receiving support from early help, targeted early help and children’s social care teams.
