PERU is a multidisciplinary research centre, with over 20 active researchers, and a strong track record of applied social research and evaluation. Its research covers criminal justice, social care and child welfare, housing, education, poverty and inequality. Rigorous design, practical delivery, and advanced statistical techniques in the context of impact evaluation, particularly randomised controlled trials, dynamic statistical modelling, and longitudinal research, are a particular focus of its work. PERU sits within the Department of Sociology at Manchester Metropolitan University.
