Responding to the Casey Report, Dr Jo Casebourne, Chief Executive of Foundations, said:
“The Casey Report underlines that survivor/victims are first and foremost children, who deserve our care and protection. Baroness Casey rightly highlights the long-term physical and mental health effects on children and young people who are survivor/victims of child sexual abuse, and the need to address this.
“This summer Foundations is commissioning a major study of the evidence to find out what works to support survivor / victims of child sexual abuse, including child sexual exploitation, to help establish how best to meet the needs of these children and young people. We will be publishing the results in a Practice Guide for local authorities working with children and young people at risk of harm through sexual abuse and exploitation. This work aims to contribute to practical, evidence-based change for survivor/victims, and will be available to the national inquiry announced yesterday by the Government.”
